#241 Exploring Temples and Questioning Faith: A Rational Journey ποΈβοΈ
1 min Read |Β 30 Oct 2023Β
Navigating through spiritual landscapes, my journey has been one of questions, contemplation, and finding a center that resonates with reason.
[1] π§ Head Center vs. Heart Center: A Personal Alignment
Buddhist temples and yantras have always fascinated me. However, my mom wonders why I don't feel the same pull towards churches. My connection is more with the head, craving rationale and depth in my spiritual quest.
[2] π΅οΈββοΈ Christianity and The Need for Deep Analysis
Christianity, as I've encountered it, doesnβt seem as keen on deep analytics or contemplation. It leans more towards devotion, blind belief and the heart center. With my and current educational backgrounds and mindsets, the carpenter's expressions to a fisherman's audience just donβt resonate, fit as well like 2000 years ago. Moreover, enlightenment through this model seems rare, hardly one or two mystics in the lineage.
[3] π€ Questioning Creation: A Childhood Debate
I remember debating with my paternal grandpa during the beginning of myΒ college years, challenging the idea that everything created needs a creator. βWho created the creator then?β I asked. The responses I got from him, my Sunday school teacher, and others were always the same. 'You neednβt know that.' Itβs not their fault, really. Itβs the fault of an outdated mental model that desperately needs an upgrade.
[4] π» Upgrading Mental Models: A Necessity
Think about it. Using Windows 98 in 2023? Unimaginable? The same goes for religious and cultural mental models. A model that canβt be upgraded is bound to become obsolete.
[5] π Animism and Advaita Vedanta: Embracing Creativity
Animist religions and Advaita Vedanta embrace creativity and see us all as part of this grand process of creation, similar to evolution. Every path, be it devotion (bhakti) or meditation (dhyana), leads to the same wondrous destination. And these paths manifest in beautiful, aesthetically pleasing designs that inspire and guide us towards that state of enlightenment. Now when I take my mom to church, the design of architecture acts as a catalyst.Β
[6] π€οΈ From Student to Teacher: Finding the Right Path
Back in my student days, sharpening my intellect through meditation was my path. But now, as someone who shares knowledge, itβs crucial to understand the individuals learning from me and help them find the path that best suits them, head center, heart center, gut center and sometimes not ready.Β
In this diverse spiritual landscape, understanding our unique inclinations and finding a path that aligns with our inner workings is key to a fulfilling journey. ππ§ββοΈ
