#311 Uncle's Anecdotes, Grandpa's Advice, and Navigating Cultural Conditioning around Alcohol πŸ»πŸ’”πŸš«

I remember in school and college, one of the threads from one of my uncles in a family gathering promoting drinking alcohol was that it's good for the heart and improves circulation, with beer being touted as good for the urinary system. Apparently, all this was part of the marketing propaganda by alcohol industries in the 1980s, along with doctors and medical professionals.

I recall having this conversation with my paternal grandpa; he strongly advised me against consuming alcohol. I questioned him, asking how a person who enjoyed alcohol could tell somebody else not to drink alcohol. My grandpa's logic was, 'when you earn by yourself, then you may.' Not very convincing, and in retrospect, one of many things dropped as awareness bloomed.

Sometimes, I find myself in the same space as my grandpa when I explain that no amount of alcohol is truly safe. At the same time, it's one of those moments to shun the inhibitions ingrained as a process of transforming animal consciousness.

Another thing I try to do is to mitigate the effects of alcohol for friends around. I remind them to hydrate with ORS before and after drinking. Recommend eating before and then drinking, ensuring a heavy breakfast the next day. Also, remind them to take vitamins and antioxidants for faster detox. πŸ»πŸ’”πŸš«

Cultural conditioning is not just about religion and morals; it's also about food, drinking habits, and the entire mindset. 🌍🍽️
